Archimedes c. 287–212 BC), I consider him to be one of the greatest Greek mathematicians and the founder of science. He lived in Syracuse on the island of Sicily.. His Archimedes' principle was discovered while while taking a bath from which we have the term “Eureka!” which translated from Greek means "I have found it". His discoveries are many: the ratio of the radius of a circle to its circumference, and formulas for the surface area and volume of a sphere and of a cylinder. He invented war machines to defend against in coming Roman ships during the Second Punic War. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archimedes
